I think we all know instinctively that as fallen creatures we can never live up to what this poem asks of us, at least not nearly as often as we would like to. Yet we also instinctively know that it’s what we should constantly strive for. I believe that’s why it appeals so much to the common man and chafes the elites.
Perfectly said. We know the standard is impossible to realize in this life, but we also know the standard is absolutely real. These are the two most basic and indelible facts I think we all feel.
I love this. Very nice also in the Caine clip that females are included in the imagery. Surely we can also aspire to be real women in the same spirit. We are after all cut from the same cloth, have the same Father and the same divine potential.
